Charitable Foundation To help ensure that we can do the Lord's work each day, some amazing volunteers helped to establish the Servant of Jesus Church and Shelter Charitable Foundation.
The foundation contains trusts, wills, memorial and honorary gifts from many of our community’s residents. It’s a great way to ensure that the Servant of Jesus Church and Shelter will always be able to support its mission through investing a gift’s principal and using only the interest to benefit those in need. There are many ways to support the Servant of Jesus Church and Shelter Charitable Foundation and we would appreciate the opportunity to talk with interested parties about how you can help ensure life changing opportunities for the most underserved into the future.
Endowment Opportunities Endowment Fund
Our Endowment Fund provides a permanent source of income for future generations. The interest from the fund is allocated to dedicated programs, thereby maintaining the integrity of the fund. The church, shelter and food banks rely on local community support and forward thinking by individuals like you. The fund is held and managed by the the Community Foundation of North East Alabama.
Endowments are a strategic, long-term approach to ensuring sustainable funding and support of essential programs and services at the Servant of Jesus Church and Shelter. Listed below are opportunities for named endowments whose purpose will establish a foundation for the future of every soul who walks through the doors of our church, shelter and food bank. Nutrition Endowment.
$100,000 provides $ 2,000 per year to fund the cost of the Food & Nutrition Program. The Servant of Jesus Church and Shelter served nearly ________meals in North East Alabama. The Nutrition Program ensures that healthy meals which meet or exceed the standards of the USDA and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans are provided to our members every day of the year, free of charge. Additionally, the Club delivers evolving programs that educate members on healthy eating habits and making good nutritional choices with the goal of fighting childhood and adult obesity. Transportation Endowment. $200,000 provides $4,000 per year for the transportation services.
This endowment provides accessibility to the Servant of Jesus Church and Shelter by providing transportation of food, clothing snd sundries. Additionally, transportation is an integral element of the vocation and job preparatory program, community service projects, and much more. The endowment subsidizes transportation expenses including:
Program travel and field trip expenses including community service projects, etc.
Fuel and fleet maintenance
Staffing, insurance and registration
Cultural Arts Endowment $100,000 provides $5,000 per year for the Club’s creative art programs
This endowment provides essential resources which enable youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and an appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing. Examples include:
Dance, theatre, music and recording arts, etc.
Drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, pottery, woodworking, etc.

National Fine Arts Exhibit
Building and Maintenance Endowment. $1,000,000 provides $50,000 per year to maintain a safe and productive club house for our members as well as to purchase replacement equipment.
This endowment provides support for the necessary purchase of equipment and maintaining the existing facility to provide a safe, attractive, well-functioning building and program area that drives the young people of our community through our doors – and keeps them here.
Technology Endowment. $100,000 provides $5,000 per year to purchase, maintain and upgrade Club technology resources. This endowment provides the resources needed to ensure the Club can provide, through the use of technology, relevant, practical and contemporary programs and services which aid our members in their pursuit of academic success and career exploration. Examples include:
Regular updates to hardware and software for both of the Club’s education and technology centers
Regular maintenance and security updates of the Club’s systems
Specialized software, materials and services to augment core program initiatives
Program Equipment Endowment. $500,000 provides $25,000 per year for program supplies and replacement of program equipment.
This endowment allows for ongoing program equipment replacement for the Club’s teen members, as equipment wears out. Examples include:
Audio-visual equipment for the stage and performance areas
Equipment and services for the recording studio
Fitness center equipment
Games and recreational equipment such as ping pong and air hockey tables
Special event supplies
Program supplies
Special Program Initiative. $250,000 provides $12,500 per year for support of critical issues identified within our community which our Club is uniquely positioned to address. This endowment provides support for Board and staff directed program initiatives to address unique or critical needs of the community as they develop. Examples include:
Helping kids succeed and stay in school
Helping young people make effective choices to stay away from drugs, alcohol and gang activities
Outreach and family support initiatives
Staff and Professional Development Endowment. $250,000 provides $12,500 per year to support the cost of training and development for our professional staff. This endowment provides support for training, professional development, continuing education and recognition for the development and retention of Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua staff. Our professional staff are the key to our success with our members. The personal attention and guidance provided by caring, professional youth development professionals means that the young people we serve have the opportunities they need for GREAT Futures! Scholarship Endowment. $200,000 provides $10,000 per year for scholarship assistance. This endowment provides support for Club members needing assistance with post high school education – whether that be a trade school, a two-year technical school, a four-year college or graduate level studies. Scholarships are awarded each year to the Club’s Youth of the Year winner and finalists to use for higher education. Unmet Needs Endowment. $200,000 provides $10,000 per year for basic supplies and resources necessary to meet unmet needs. This endowment provides special assistance to help Club members and their families most in need with basic social, health and welfare issues. Club staff discreetly identify pressing needs such as winter apparel and food assistance for members whose needs are dire and immediate. Program Scholarship Endowment. $100,000 provides $5,000 per year in scholarships for our members to attend camp and for program support. This endowment provides critical resources which subsidizes membership fees and allows members to attend the Club’s summer camp program, challenging them to develop new experiences, skills and friendships.
Memorial and Honorary Gifts
The Servant of Jesus Church and Shelter Charitable Foundation accepts gifts in honor and memory of those who want to ensure a positive future for our members. Donors who wish to give in memory of special individuals or in tribute of a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary, holiday or wedding make many thoughtful gifts to the Club each year. Memorial giving is a meaningful way for family and friends to remember their loved ones who are no longer with them. Making a gift in honor of a special occasion to the Servant of Jesus Church and Shelter not only is a very special gesture but also spreads the spirit of philanthropy among friends and family.
